KCoJax Candids ~ the 1st of a Few Updates...

I had an incident in which my camera bit the dust this summer. There've been a couple of backup cameras I was able to borrow here and there ... which has been a tremendous help, however it kept me from actively booking shoots, I just took the ones that fell in my lap...but didn't do any marketing.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise though because it's allowed me some time to set up my website and facebook page as well as set up KCoJax.SmugMug.com so that you fine folks have more options in purchasing your photographs.

In the past, I've charged one price which covers the sitting fee, photographs on a disc sized to 4x6 and a copyright release.  This KCoJax.SmugMug.com change will allow me to lower the sitting fee considerably in expectation of purchase, whereas before I wasn't affiliated with the subjects purchase end in any way.

Here's the lowdown ...
http://kcojax.smugmug.com/ will take you to a page with TWO departments, one of which is KCoJax Candids (hired shoots, by people such as yourself-divided by category) ... the other is KCoJax Local Flavor, which includes local landscapes and scenery; with the most recent shoots in the *Featured Gallery* bar.

I've spent the last three days glued to my laptop tying up some of the loose ends on pricing, uploading and such ... and there are still some design tweaks that I want to get done in the next few weeks, but I'm ready to share the link and let you folks in on it ... So when you finish up reading below I hope you'll run right off to www.KCoJax.SmugMug.com and take a look!!

I've made an effort to make the prices affordable based on my cost and I'll be working on packages

(especially for children's shoots) in the coming days and weeks...

You can still follow KCoJax Candids on Facebook and share the link as often as you wish.
You never know ... if I notice you've shared it a few times,
you might receive a photo credit in your email in-box!! :)

Giraffes and Bridges and Sunsets... Oh My! - A Downtown Paducah Photo Blog -

***

I had the opportunity over the weekend to make a spin through Downtown Paducah with a friend and take a few shots.  I love Downtown Paducah - it's such a quaint little place - very rich in history ...

I took a few unplanned shots while crossing "the blue bridge"...
I'd give my eye teeth to get in the middle of that bridge for about 20 minutes with traffic stopped...
The two-span arch bridge is the I-24 bridge.
In the photo below you can barely see the trusses of the Metropolis Bridge (completed in 1917).
If I'm not mistaken, the smoke-stacks are Electric Energy, Inc - (Coal power plant - Joppa, IL)

***

My favorites came from Downtown Paducah though ...
my initial intention had been to shoot the Irvin Cobb building and the steeples with the sun setting, but my chosen perch left me with a multitude of telephone poles and wires in the shot - and with the sun setting fast, I decided I would have to wait for another day to get the shot I'm after...

The absolute best shots o' the day (in my opinion) were a suggestion of my pal
and came from the Mentor House Gallery at 332 North Sixth -

With this
being my total FAVE of the day!

01/24/2011 - An Update On All Things Photography -

I am terribly sorry for the hiatus of uploading pics.  The last couple of months have been an onslaught of monkey wrenches, photo software issues and pit falls.  It's been tough for me to organize my schedule, rather based on immediate financial concerns - my schedule has been flinging me around .. which in turn has caused me to get sick.  I'm crawling back this week though ... I must.

Anyhoo - An Update on all things photography ...

If you are awaiting photographs that have already been taken they will be ready for pick up this week as I'm putting in between 8 and 16 hours a day on photo editing to get caught up.  If there is a balance due on your account, that must be payed in full before the disc will be released.  You can text or email me at KimAJackson2010@gmail.com to schedule a pick-up time.

If you have been in contact to schedule a photo shoot, or would like to be -  The primary issue has been the weather.  We do need sunlight.  I don't mind the cold if you don't - and I'm totally great with all of us bundling up - but the sunlight is so, so, so important to the quality of the photographs that I just can't budge on that.  You can email me at KimAJackson2010@gmail.com to discuss or schedule a photo shoot.

Do be sure to click to follow at the top right hand side of this page so that you're sure to catch all updates and new pics as there will be many updates this week.  I don't think that I have this blog set to show the posts on my FB news feed, but I'll get that linked up this week.
