Giraffes and Bridges and Sunsets... Oh My! - A Downtown Paducah Photo Blog -

***

I had the opportunity over the weekend to make a spin through Downtown Paducah with a friend and take a few shots.  I love Downtown Paducah - it's such a quaint little place - very rich in history ...

I took a few unplanned shots while crossing "the blue bridge"...
I'd give my eye teeth to get in the middle of that bridge for about 20 minutes with traffic stopped...
The two-span arch bridge is the I-24 bridge.
In the photo below you can barely see the trusses of the Metropolis Bridge (completed in 1917).
If I'm not mistaken, the smoke-stacks are Electric Energy, Inc - (Coal power plant - Joppa, IL)

My favorites came from Downtown Paducah though ...
my initial intention had been to shoot the Irvin Cobb building and the steeples with the sun setting, but my chosen perch left me with a multitude of telephone poles and wires in the shot - and with the sun setting fast, I decided I would have to wait for another day to get the shot I'm after...

The absolute best shots o' the day (in my opinion) were a suggestion of my pal
and came from the Mentor House Gallery at 332 North Sixth -

With this
being my total FAVE of the day!

01/24/2011 - An Update On All Things Photography -

I am terribly sorry for the hiatus of uploading pics.  The last couple of months have been an onslaught of monkey wrenches, photo software issues and pit falls.  It's been tough for me to organize my schedule, rather based on immediate financial concerns - my schedule has been flinging me around .. which in turn has caused me to get sick.  I'm crawling back this week though ... I must.

Anyhoo - An Update on all things photography ...

If you are awaiting photographs that have already been taken they will be ready for pick up this week as I'm putting in between 8 and 16 hours a day on photo editing to get caught up.  If there is a balance due on your account, that must be payed in full before the disc will be released.  You can text or email me at KimAJackson2010@gmail.com to schedule a pick-up time.

If you have been in contact to schedule a photo shoot, or would like to be -  The primary issue has been the weather.  We do need sunlight.  I don't mind the cold if you don't - and I'm totally great with all of us bundling up - but the sunlight is so, so, so important to the quality of the photographs that I just can't budge on that.  You can email me at KimAJackson2010@gmail.com to discuss or schedule a photo shoot.

Do be sure to click to follow at the top right hand side of this page so that you're sure to catch all updates and new pics as there will be many updates this week.  I don't think that I have this blog set to show the posts on my FB news feed, but I'll get that linked up this week.
